Button loops
The length of button loops is based on the button size. This measurement should be half the circumference of the button plus seam allowances. The width of the strip should be approx. 1" (25 mm) allowing for a finished 1/4" (7 mm) loop and 1/4" (7 mm) seam allowances. Adjust width as desired. Construct the loops as described for belt loops. Pin the loops in place on the garment edge and temporarily secure by placing a strip of adhesive tape or basting across the cut ends. Pin the facing right sides together over the loops and stitch in place along the seamline. Trim the seam allowance, turn facing to the back and press. Remove tape or basting. Topstitch if desired.
