With lighter-weight fabrics, a double-fold facing is usually used. When using a double-fold facing, you can eliminate interfacing from the garment front edge. Press the front edge under along the first fold line. Fold again along the front fold line. Top stitching place. Optional: Top stitch close to the front edge.
